Aliso Niguel High School was the site of a gianormous WGASC Winter Guard contest on Saturday, March 1. Over 60 Winter Guards from across SoCal competed.
Despite occasional heavy rain, thunder, and even the threat of tornados (yikes!), our staff, students and parents performed beautifully, putting on a show that had everyone amazed at just how smoothly everything went (special thanks to Roger Kotow and his crew at Food Services, who braved it all, cooking between and through the rain drops to provide their always-amazing burgers, hot dogs, fries and even grilled cheese sandwiches that keep us all going. Thanks!).
The ANHS Music Boosters extend a hearty THANK YOU to all of the students and parents involved with the ANHS music programs who worked long hours to make this competition an unqualified success!
Both ANHS Winter Guards competed in their respective divisions: our AA Guard placed fifth in the Regional AA Green Division with a score of 74.02, a 2.9-point improvement over the score received in their prior comp in Anaheim. Overall, the AA Guard placed 11th out of 21 Guards that competed in the AA Regional Red, Green & Blue Divisions.
The ANHS Open Guard – sporting their new 2014 costumes for the first time in competition – placed 3rd in the Scholastic Open Division, with a score of 65.00 – a 2.6-point improvement over their previous comp in Riverside.
